Job Description

Job Title: Inventory Accountant

Job Summary: The Inventory Accountant is responsible for the accurate inventory balances and providing accounting support for the Inventory Control team.

Principal Duties:

  • Prepare and distribute weekly intercompany entries and clearing of intercompany accounts.
  • Review weekly shrinkage movements from a corporate level, investigate large shrink expense in specific general ledger accounts and review large shrink expense incurred within stores.  Work with Inventory Control to create Applix tickets when needed to ensure timely resolution of inventory errors.
  • Create and analyze Inventory Exception based reporting and assist with the distribution and creation of work for the Inventory Control team. Review all Inventory Control reversals for accuracy and serve as back-up to the Inventory Control team when work load warrants this effort.
  • Responsible for recording all recall journal entries, and investigating potential data entry errors completed by store personnel.
  • Perform month end tasks and journal entries as assigned and capturing substitution table data sets at the end of each month.
  • Create and maintain the New Article database.
  • Review Corporate Spoilage at month end for each store and identify accruals that are needed for incorrect store entries.
  • Responsible for analyzing Food Service Recipe data on a weekly basis.  Communicate any changes to appropriate owner within Marketing to verify changes that were discovered.  Verify accuracy of inventory that is decrementing on current offers, and work with Strategic Partners to correct issues found. Communicate with Management on financial corrections and manage the bi-weekly Food Service Meeting.
  • Responsible for creating and analyzing inventory balances for  accuracy and working with Inventory Control to create Applix tickets when needed to ensure timely resolution of inventory issues
  • Create specific reports highlighting shrink/spoilage issues on a monthly basis.
  • Perform other special duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related business discipline preferred
  • 1 - 3 years of Accounting and reporting experience
